The system we have developed for the RX8 is a High flow cat section plus a cat back system. A metallic substrate cat converter is used in the cat section to allow for even greater flow than the original. Our testing result proved that in this section the optimum pipe dia is 2 3/4" (which is a unique tube dia in stainless available to SMB) The cat back section comprises of an intermediate tube, plus a rear muffler section, the cat back section utilizes a mixture of tube dia to achieve the desired results. We have achieved a system that gives good increases in rear wheel Kilowatts, a noticeable driving difference thru the increase in torque and quicker throttle response. The exhaust note is typical of SMB, i.e. a subtle exhaust note on constant throttle (so no cabin drone) but opens up under load to give you that true sports experience, thru the design we managed to minimize the pop back under de-acceleration to an absolute minimum, the heat retained by the rear mufflers is kept to a minimum by the use of our unique packaging material. (so no more smelling melting rear bumbers) Through out the development process the staff at SMB deliberately did not view any other brands or products for the RX8. Which gave the system we produced a visually unique system, thru the placement and angles the mufflers are positioned at. This system is one of the best designs we have produced.
